Project Description:  The Sexual Health and Adolescent Risk Prevention (SHARP) program for detained adolescents is a group-based intervention counseling session designed to reduce sexual risk behaviors among high-risk adolescents in juvenile detention facilities.  The program will be delivered to 125 adolescents in small group sessions.  The goal is to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors associated with teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections for Mississippi’s most vulnerable adolescent populations.  Additionally, the implementation of the project will aim to strengthen STI/HIV knowledge, improve correct condom usage, reduce sexual risks and alcohol use, and set long-term goals to utilize knowledge and skills learned during the session.
